Sokoto Agency Tasks Islamic Scholars on 2027 Hajj Registration Sensitisation

The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has urged Islamic scholars across the state to intensify sensitisation of their followers on the September 26, 2026 deadline set by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for the registration of pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj.
Chairman of the Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, made the call on Tuesday during a meeting with members of the Sokoto State Hajj Ulama Committee.
Musa said the Islamic scholars have a critical role to play in educating intending pilgrims, particularly through Friday sermons, Islamic lectures and other religious gatherings, on the need to complete their registration and payment processes before the deadline.
He explained that the September 26 deadline was fixed by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, urging all prospective pilgrims wishing to undertake the 2027 pilgrimage to take immediate steps to secure their registration.

The chairman also directed pilgrims who have already made payments to submit their valid international passports to the Agency without delay.
He stressed that timely submission of the required documents was essential to completing the registration process and facilitating preparations for the pilgrimage.
In his remarks, the Agency’s Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar JJ, described the Ulama Committee as a key partner in Hajj administration in Sokoto State.
He commended the scholars for their continued cooperation, noting that their efforts in educating pilgrims and providing accurate religious guidance contribute significantly to successful Hajj operations.
Responding, Chairman of the Ulama Committee, Alhaji Abubakar Attahiru, assured the Agency of the committee’s continued support and commitment to educating intending pilgrims and promoting a smooth 2027 Hajj operation.
All directors of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency attended the meeting.
