Niger Pilgrims Board Sensitizes Returnees on Baggage Rules Ahead of Airlift

The Niger State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has launched a sensitization campaign across pilgrims’ accommodation facilities in Makkah to educate intending returnees on baggage regulations, prohibited items and other travel requirements ahead of their return to Nigeria.
The exercise comes after the Board distributed two 23-kilogram luggage bags to each pilgrim in line with the approved baggage allowance for the return journey.
The board in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Jibrin Usman Kodo, disclosed that officials of the Board are conducting house-to-house visits to ensure that pilgrims understand and comply with airline regulations designed to facilitate a smooth and orderly return airlift operation.
During the sensitization exercise, officials urge pilgrims to comply with baggage regulations by avoiding excess luggage and refraining from packing prohibited items in their checked or hand luggage.
The restricted items include sharp objects, flammable materials, Zamzam water and other goods prohibited under airline safety regulations.
The Board said the initiative forms part of efforts to prevent delays, baggage-related challenges and other avoidable complications that could disrupt the return operation.
It noted that strict adherence to the guidelines would help ensure a hitch-free journey for all pilgrims and enhance the efficiency of the airlift process.
The Board also urged pilgrims to cooperate fully with its officials and comply with all instructions regarding baggage handling and travel documentation.
The sensitization exercise is expected to continue across all pilgrims’ accommodation facilities in Makkah as preparations intensify for the commencement of the return flights to Nigeria.
