Niger Pilgrim Undergoes Surgery After Road Accident in Makkah

A pilgrim from Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad of Wushishi Local Government Area (LGA), is recovering after successfully undergoing surgery following a road accident in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
The incident occurred while the pilgrim was crossing a road on his way to his hotel near his accommodation in the holy city. He sustained fractures to his left arm and left leg.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, Jibrin Usman Kodo, the State Medical Team and Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers (APWOs) swiftly responded after receiving reports of the accident.
The State Medical Team and Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers immediately rushed the victim to Shefa Hospital for emergency treatment, where medical personnel provided initial care before transferring him to King Abdulaziz Hospital in Makkah for specialized treatment.
The State Medical Team Lead, Dr. Jibrin Abdullahi Daniya, coordinated the medical response and ensured that the pilgrim received prompt treatment while still conscious.
He was joined by Wushishi Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers and members of the Board’s management at the hospital to monitor the patient’s condition and recovery.
Medical specialists at King Abdulaziz Hospital subsequently carried out a successful surgical procedure on the injured pilgrim.
The Board disclosed that Alhaji Abubakar is currently receiving post-operative care and recuperating under close medical supervision.
It noted that the timely intervention of the medical team played a crucial role in ensuring that the pilgrim received urgent and appropriate treatment, helping to prevent further complications.
The Niger State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board called on the pilgrim’s family, relatives, and well-wishers to remain calm, assuring them of its commitment to his full recovery and overall well-being.
