Kaduna Kicks Off BITA Ahead of 2026 Hajj, Assures Pilgrims of Improved Welfare

The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (KSPWA) has commenced its Public Enlightenment program, popularly known as BITA, marking a key step in preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
On Saturday, January 3, 2026, the Kinkinau Qur’anic Recitation Centre in Kaduna officially flagged off the program.
The development was disclosed in a press statement signed by the Agency’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Datti Makarfi, and made available to Hajj Gazette News and Current Affairs.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of KSPWA, Malam Salihu S. Abubakar, who was represented by the Administrative Secretary, Malam Baba Rufa’i, described the BITA programme as a cornerstone of the Agency’s Hajj preparations.
He explained that the enlightenment initiative is aimed at properly educating and preparing intending pilgrims spiritually, physically and administratively for the sacred journey to the Holy Land. According to him, the program will equip pilgrims with essential knowledge about Hajj rites and obligations, health and safety precautions, and Saudi Arabian laws and regulations, as well as the values of discipline, patience, good conduct, unity, and cooperation.
Malam Salihu stressed that the welfare of Kaduna State pilgrims remains the highest priority of the agency, ensuring that all necessary measures are put in place to guarantee a safe, comfortable, and spiritually rewarding Hajj experience.
“A well-informed pilgrim is a successful pilgrim,” he noted, adding that the BITA programme is designed to eliminate confusion, reduce avoidable mistakes and ensure full compliance with laid-down guidelines.
The Agency also used the occasion to highlight the ongoing reconstruction of the Kaduna State Hajj Transit Camp at Mando, describing it as a major milestone in efforts to enhance pilgrims’ welfare. Malam Salihu pledged to complete the project prior to the start of the 2026 Hajj operations.
He explained that when completed, the upgraded transit camp will meet modern and international standards with improved accommodations, enhanced sanitation, better medical and welfare services, and a more organised and conducive environment for pilgrims.
The chairman expressed his deep appreciation to the governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, for his unwavering support, visionary leadership, and commitment to the welfare of pilgrims. He noted that the Governor’s approval and backing for the reconstruction of the Hajj Transit Camp and other welfare-focused initiatives reflect a people-orientated and compassionate leadership style.
On behalf of the Kaduna State Special Hajj Committee, the management and staff of the Agency, as well as all intending pilgrims, Malam Salihu thanked the Governor for prioritising the comfort and dignity of Kaduna State pilgrims.
He also urged intending pilgrims to take the BITA sessions seriously by attending all programs, asking questions where necessary, and strictly adhering to the guidelines that will be provided.
The Agency further commended Islamic scholars, facilitators, media partners and other stakeholders for their continued cooperation and support toward ensuring a smooth and hitch-free 2026 Hajj operation.
