Jigawa Outlines Pilgrim Protection Plans Ahead of 2027 Hajj

The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has begun security coordination for the 2027 Hajj, with the state police command pledging intelligence-led support to protect pilgrims and officials throughout the pilgrimage operation.
The development followed a meeting between the Board and the Jigawa State Police Command at the command headquarters, where both institutions discussed measures to strengthen security arrangements and improve inter-agency coordination ahead of the pilgrimage.
Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, said the engagement was aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and ensuring effective security coordination throughout the Hajj operational process.
Labbo identified robust security arrangements, effective communication and cooperation among relevant agencies as critical to protecting pilgrims and other stakeholders.
He also commended the police command for its continued support to the Board, expressing appreciation to the Commissioner of Police for receiving the delegation.

Receiving the Board’s delegation, Commissioner of Police Tijjani Murtala assured the command’s continued cooperation with the pilgrims’ welfare authorities and other stakeholders to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims and officials.
Murtala said the command was prepared to provide professional, responsive and intelligence-led security services whenever required during the Hajj operation.
He also stressed the importance of starting security preparations early, sharing information and maintaining coordinated arrangements among relevant agencies.
According to him, effective collaboration remains essential to delivering a smooth, safe and successful pilgrimage operation.
The meeting ended with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to sustained partnership, mutual support and coordinated security planning in the interest of Jigawa pilgrims.
The engagement comes as states and relevant Hajj agencies intensify preparations for the 2027 pilgrimage, placing greater emphasis on early planning and coordinated operational arrangements.
