The Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission has placed pilgrim welfare at the heart of its proposed 2027 budget, signalling a push to strengthen preparations for the next Hajj operation.

The Acting Executive Chairman of the Commission, Malam Abubakar Salihu, led senior directors to the State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, where he presented the Commission’s proposed 2027 budget.

The presentation marked a key step in the Commission’s planning for the 2027 pilgrimage and reflected its focus on translating budgetary provisions into improved services for intending pilgrims.

According to the Commission, the proposed budget is designed to support better logistics, accommodation, safety and other welfare services required to provide pilgrims with a smooth and comfortable Hajj experience.

The budget meeting was chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Akila Makila, who guided the exercise.

The Commission said the session was conducted smoothly, with effective collaboration between its officials and the ministry, reflecting a coordinated approach to public-sector planning.

The early budget process comes as states across Nigeria intensify preparations for the 2027 Hajj, with intending pilgrims and pilgrimage authorities increasingly focused on meeting operational, financial and logistical requirements ahead of the exercise.

Although the Commission did not disclose the total size of its proposed 2027 budget or specific allocations to individual programmes, the welfare priorities outlined provide an indication of the areas it intends to strengthen.

The Commission is expected to proceed with further planning and implementation once the budget receives the necessary approvals, with the ultimate objective of improving the quality of services available to Adamawa pilgrims.

The development positions pilgrim welfare as a central consideration in Adamawa’s 2027 Hajj strategy.
