Ghana Sets Date for 2027 Hajj Medical Screening
By Abdulrazaq Auwal
The Ghana Hajj Board has announced October 3, 2026, as the commencement date for mandatory medical screening for prospective pilgrims preparing for the 2027 Hajj.
The screening exercise will take place at designated medical centres across the country and will run through November 16, according to a statement issued by the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana on Tuesday.
The Board said medical screening is a compulsory requirement for all prospective pilgrims and a prerequisite for the processing of Hajj visas.
It therefore directed pilgrims to complete the exercise and obtain the required medical clearance before proceeding with other aspects of their Hajj preparations.
The medical screening fee has been fixed at GH¢650 per pilgrim.
Prospective pilgrims are required to present a valid travel passport and provide their passport numbers during the screening process.

The Board advised applicants to ensure that their passport details are accurate and readily available.
To avoid overcrowding and ensure an orderly process, pilgrims travelling through Hajj travel agents have been directed to contact their respective agents to secure appointments.
Direct-payment and protocol pilgrims, on the other hand, are expected to contact the Ghana Hajj Board Secretariat for their designated appointment dates.
The screening will commence in Tamale on October 3 at Ummah Medical Jisonayili, followed by Kumasi on October 10 at the Kumasi Central Mosque.
The exercise will begin in Accra on October 15 at the Hajj Village, while screening centres will subsequently open in Bawku, Bolgatanga, Nalerigu, Yendi, Salaga, Wa and Techiman.
The Board urged prospective pilgrims to book their appointments early and adhere strictly to their assigned dates and screening schedules.
It stressed that early compliance would facilitate a smooth medical clearance process and help pilgrims meet requirements for the processing of their 2027 Hajj visas.
