Ghana Maintains N7.14 million Hajj Fare for 2027 Pilgrimage

The Government of Ghana has maintained the Hajj fare at GH₵60,000 (equivalent to approximately N7.14 million) for the 2027 pilgrimage, keeping the cost unchanged from the previous year despite recent increases introduced by Saudi Arabia.
Hajj Gazette gathered that President John Dramani Mahama directed the government to absorb the additional costs arising from the changes in Saudi Hajj services, a move aimed at shielding Ghanaian pilgrims from further financial pressure.
The decision means prospective pilgrims will pay GH₵60,000 for the pilgrimage, while the government covers the additional costs linked to the Saudi adjustments.
However, the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has yet to release the official payment schedule, detailed payment structure and list of accredited Hajj agents for the 2027 operation.
Authorities have urged prospective pilgrims to begin preparations early and engage only accredited Hajj operators once the official list becomes available.
They also warned intending pilgrims against making payments to individuals or agents claiming to collect 2027 Hajj fares before the government formally opens the payment window.
The Ghana Hajj Agents Association has separately cautioned pilgrims against unaccredited sub-agents and fraudulent operators seeking early deposits.

The Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) remains the official financial institution for Hajj-related accounts and is expected to handle payments when the registration window opens.
In previous registration cycles, the Hajj authorities accredited agents across Ghana’s 16 regions, with 42 operators approved during an earlier cycle.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Hajj authorities are preparing the operational framework for the 2027 pilgrimage, including payment dates, approved operators and other registration arrangements.
The government’s decision to retain the GH₵60,000 fare provides pilgrims with greater cost certainty as preparations for Hajj 2027 gather momentum.
Prospective pilgrims are advised to rely on official announcements and avoid unofficial payment channels until the authorities publish the approved arrangements.
