Nasarawa Board Refunds N2.6m to Families of Two Deceased Pilgrims

The Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has presented death certificates and a total of N2,597,400 in cash refunds to the families of two pilgrims who died during the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The board’s Executive Secretary, Mallam Idris Almakura, presented N1,298,700 to each family, explaining that the money represented unutilised portions of the pilgrims’ Hajj fares.
The deceased, Late Hajiya Fatima Babayo from Gudi in Akwanga Local Government Area and Late Hajiya Rukyya Haliru from Keffi Local Government Area, were buried in Makkah in the presence of board officials.
Almakura conveyed the condolences of the Nasarawa State Government to the bereaved families and prayed for Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest.
He also reaffirmed the board’s commitment to the welfare and safety of Nasarawa pilgrims during Hajj operations.
The Chairman of the board, Mallam Umar Usman Baba, and other directors attended the presentation.
