As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, Islamic scholars are calling on Muslims espcially those returning from Umrah pilgrimage to sustain the spiritual discipline developed during the period, warning against a return to pre-Ramadan habits.

Ramadan, marked by fasting, increased devotion, and recitation of the Qur’an, is widely regarded as a period of spiritual renewal. However, religious authorities stress that the true test begins after the month ends.

According to scholars, Muslims should prioritize consistency in acts of worship, including daily prayers, voluntary fasting, and regular engagement with the Qur’an, even after the conclusion of the fasting period.

They note that the impact of Laylatul Qadr, observed during the last ten nights, should translate into long-term behavioral change, rather than a temporary surge in devotion.

Attention is also shifting toward Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month. Ahead of the celebration, Muslims are required to give Zakat al-Fitr, aimed at supporting the less privileged and promoting inclusivity during the festivities.

Beyond the celebrations, scholars emphasize the importance of maintaining moral discipline, avoiding sinful acts, and upholding values such as charity, patience, and humility cultivated during Ramadan.

They further advise Muslims to adopt a structured post-Ramadan routine that includes voluntary fasts, particularly in the days following Eid, as well as sustained acts of kindness and community engagement.

Religious leaders maintain that Ramadan should serve as a turning point rather than an isolated period of worship, urging Muslims to build on the momentum gained during the month.

For many, the period after Ramadan represents a critical phase, one that determines whether the spiritual gains of the holy month will be preserved or gradually lost.
