The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has intensified preparations for the 2027 Hajj with ongoing renovation of the state’s Hajj Transit Camp in Mando, aimed at improving accommodation and welfare facilities for intending pilgrims.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer the agency, Ibrahim Datti, the remodelling covers the male and female accommodation blocks, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) staff block and other facilities within the camp.
The agency’s Administrative Secretary and Chairman of the Renovation Committee, Malam Mohammed Baba Rufa’i, led members of the committee on an inspection tour of the ongoing work on Wednesday to assess progress and ensure compliance with required standards.
The inspection formed part of efforts to ensure that the facilities are upgraded ahead of the 2027 Hajj operation and provide a more comfortable environment for pilgrims during the exercise.
The agency said the renovation was designed to bring the camp’s facilities closer to international standards, improve accommodation and strengthen service delivery throughout the pilgrimage operation.
The project also reflects the agency’s efforts to address infrastructure needs ahead of the next Hajj season, with preparations commencing well before the commencement of pilgrim movements.
The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency reaffirmed its commitment to providing adequate facilities and a conducive environment for intending pilgrims, stressing the importance of putting necessary arrangements in place early.
However, the agency did not disclose the cost of the renovation, the project’s completion timeline or the number of pilgrims the upgraded camp is expected to accommodate.
The Mando Hajj Transit Camp serves as part of Kaduna State’s infrastructure for coordinating pilgrims’ movements and related activities during the annual pilgrimage.
