Edo Pilgrims Begin Homebound Preparations as Board Distributes Luggage Bags

As the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage gradually draws to a close, the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the distribution of luggage bags to pilgrims in preparation for their return journey to Nigeria.
The exercise, which took place on Sunday, was supervised by the Executive Secretary of the board, Alhaji Eranga Abdulkabir Muhammadkabir, who urged pilgrims to comply strictly with airline baggage regulations to ensure a smooth departure process from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Addressing the pilgrims, the Executive Secretary emphasized the importance of observing the approved baggage limit of two pieces of luggage weighing 23 kilograms each.
He noted that adherence to the directive would help prevent delays, excess baggage charges, and other avoidable challenges during airport check-in procedures.
According to him, the distribution of the luggage bags forms part of the board’s commitment to ensuring an organized and stress-free return for all Edo State pilgrims following the successful completion of the Hajj rites.
He further advised pilgrims to clearly label their luggage for easy identification and to keep important documents, travel papers, medications, and other valuables in their hand luggage throughout the journey.
Several pilgrims who received the bags expressed appreciation to the state government and the Pilgrims Welfare Board for the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that would assist them in properly arranging their belongings ahead of departure.
The board reaffirmed its dedication to the welfare of the pilgrims and assured them of continued support until their safe arrival back in Nigeria, in line with established Hajj operational guidelines and procedures.
