Special Report: Saudi Sets Deadlines as Planning for 2027 Hajj Begins

Saudi Arabia has officially commenced preparations for the 1448AH (2027) Hajj season, unveiling a comprehensive operational timetable that sets key deadlines for Hajj affairs offices, tour operators and participating countries nearly a year before pilgrims begin arriving in the Kingdom.
The schedule, released under the Kingdom’s Nusuk Masar framework, outlines a structured sequence of activities covering accommodation, transportation, financial commitments, visa processing and pilgrim movement, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s continued push towards early planning and digital management of the annual pilgrimage.
Preparations formally began on 29 May 2026 with the issuance of preliminary arrangements documents and the operational timeline for the upcoming Hajj season.
The preparation process enters a new phase on 30 June 2026 as Hajj affairs offices and licensed tour operators begin selecting accommodation options for pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah, covering districts, lodging types and hotel classifications.
Saudi authorities have also scheduled the commencement of direct fund transfers to electronic wallets on the Nusuk Masar platform for 15 July 2026. On the same date, the Kingdom will begin allocating airline quotas and assigning air carriers for participating countries.
On 29 July 2026, Hajj missions will move into a crucial stage of preparations by securing comprehensive service packages and formalising agreements with air carriers.
During the same period, Hajj missions will submit their preferences for Nusuk card distribution and finalize accommodation arrangements for pilgrims.
By 26 September 2026, participating countries must announce Hajj registration to prospective pilgrims, complete airline allocations and conclude contracts with medical and media service providers. The deadline also marks the completion of data uploads for Hajj affairs office personnel.
On 8 November 2026, Hajj affairs offices will gather at the Hajj Conference and Exhibition to sign formal Hajj arrangements agreements, finalize pilgrims’ movement preference agreements and document contracts with air carriers through the Nusuk Masar platform.
Financial obligations will reach a crucial stage on 24 December 2026, the deadline for transferring funds required to secure comprehensive Hajj packages and depositing them into electronic wallets. The final deadline for contracting these packages is scheduled for 23 January 2027.
Saudi authorities have fixed 28 January 2027 as the deadline for uploading pilgrims’ data and completing mandatory training and certification programs for Hajj officials. Visa issuance will also commence on the same day.
On 9 March 2027, Saudi authorities will conclude visa issuance and close the window for medication clearance requests, bringing one of the final administrative phases of Hajj preparations to an end.
Pilgrim arrivals into the Kingdom are scheduled to begin on 8 April 2027, following the deadline for visa cancellation requests. Preparations will then enter their final phase with the commencement of camp inspection visits on 27 April 2027.
The newly released timetable underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening planning, accountability and coordination across the global Hajj ecosystem.
By introducing deadlines months in advance, the Kingdom aims to ensure smoother operations, enhance service delivery and minimize logistical challenges ahead of one of the world’s largest annual religious gatherings.
