Kano Government Delivers Transport Support for Pilgrims in Makkah

The Kano State Government has fulfilled its pledge to provide transportation support for pilgrims from the state participating in the 2026 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, disclosed this during a press briefing held ahead of the Day of Arafat.
The Public Relation Officer of the Board, Sulaiman Dederi disclosed this in a statement.
He said the government had put in place adequate arrangements to facilitate the movement of Kano pilgrims from their accommodation centers to Masjid Al-Haram for the five daily prayers.
Matawalle explained that the transportation service was scheduled to commence immediately after the Day of Arafat, with dedicated buses conveying pilgrims to and from the Holy Mosque on a daily basis.
He urged pilgrims to make proper use of the vehicles and ensure they are handled responsibly.
In fulfillment of the government’s commitment, the Amirul Hajj for the 2026 Hajj exercise and Emir of Gaya, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, officially flagged off the buses designated for the operation.
Speaking during the launch, the Amirul Hajj said the initiative was aimed at easing access to Masjid Al-Haram and enabling pilgrims to perform their religious obligations with greater comfort and convenience.
A total of eight buses has been deployed for the exercise, with each vehicle capable of carrying more than 50 passengers.
The buses have been strategically assigned to serve pilgrims residing in various accommodation facilities across Makkah.
Meanwhile, the Amirul Hajj, accompanied by his deputy and Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Mahraz Karaye, supervised the distribution and dispatch of pilgrims’ luggage.
The Amirul Hajj advised pilgrims to strictly comply with approved luggage regulations and avoid carrying items beyond the stipulated weight limits.
Under the arrangement, each pilgrim is entitled to two pieces of luggage, with each bag weighing up to 23 kilograms, bringing the total luggage allowance to 46 kilograms per pilgrim.
The Kano State Government said it remains committed to ensuring the welfare, comfort and successful performance of Hajj rites by all pilgrims from the state.
