2027 Hajj: Sokoto Warns Pilgrims Against Agents, Proxy Registration

The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has warned intending pilgrims against registering through agents, proxies or intermediaries for the 2027 Hajj, directing applicants to complete registration only through officially designated channels.
The Chairman of the Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, issued the warning during a meeting to review preparations for the 2027 Hajj operation and strengthen compliance with registration procedures.
Musa said the Agency would not accept registration conducted through third parties, stressing that intending pilgrims must personally follow the approved process to safeguard their applications and payments.
He also directed pilgrims to make all payments only through the official accounts of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency.
The Agency, he said, would not accept cash payments and urged applicants to obtain and preserve official receipts for every transaction.
The Agency set the deposit at N7,696,769.67 for intending pilgrims participating in the 2027 Hajj, noting that it would announce the final Hajj fare after the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) approves it.

Musa also urged intending pilgrims to register early and comply with the September 26, 2026 deadline set by NAHCON, warning that no registration would be accepted after the stipulated date.
According to the Agency, intending pilgrims can register at its headquarters in Sokoto and designated Local Government Hajj registration centres.
Applicants must provide a valid international passport with validity extending to at least October 2027, a photocopy of their National Identification Number (NIN) slip, four recent coloured passport photographs and required guarantor documents.
The Chairman urged intending pilgrims to obtain information directly from the Agency or designated registration centres instead of relying on unofficial sources.
He said the Agency would continue working with NAHCON and other relevant authorities to ensure transparent, accountable and efficient preparations for the 2027 Hajj.
