2027 Hajj: Lagos Commends NAHCON Chairman for Fare Reduction

The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has credited the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, for the reduction in the 2027 Hajj fare, which the state fixed at N7,882,822.
The Board Secretary, AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, disclosed this on Thursday while featuring on “The Conversation”, a live programme on Lagos Television (LTV).
Ajomagberin said the reduction in the 2027 fare compared with the previous year reflected the NAHCON chairman’s commitment to reducing the cost of Hajj and making the pilgrimage more seamless for Nigerian pilgrims.
“The credit for this reduction goes to the NAHCON Chairman, who since assuming office has pledged to work towards reducing the Hajj fare and making the exercise seamless for Nigerian pilgrims,” he said.
The Board Secretary, who also appeared on live programmes on Radio Lagos and Eko FM, urged intending pilgrims to pay the approved fare on or before September 26, 2026, in line with the deadline set by NAHCON.

He said early payment was necessary to enable the Board to secure travel documents within the timeframe stipulated by the Saudi authorities.
Ajomagberin reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to providing comprehensive welfare services for pilgrims throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.
He said the state would provide standard accommodation close to the Haram, regular daily meals featuring local delicacies, comfortable transportation and organised Ziyarah to historical sites in Makkah and Madinah.
The government, he added, would also provide adequate medical care, Basic Travel Allowance (BTA), support for the slaughtering of Hadayah rams and other essential services.
Ajomagberin urged intending pilgrims to take advantage of the approved fare and meet the payment deadline to facilitate effective planning for the 2027 Hajj operation.
