The Nasarawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has attributed its emergence as the recipient of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria’s (NAHCON) Best State Pilgrims Accommodation and Welfare Services Award for the 2026 Hajj to the unwavering support of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

The Executive Secretary of the board, Mallam Idris Almakura, stated this after receiving the award on behalf of the state during the NAHCON 2026 Hajj Stakeholders’ Review Meeting in Abuja.

Almakura described the recognition as a testament to the state government’s commitment to improving Hajj administration and ensuring the comfort and welfare of pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage.

He dedicated the award to Governor Sule, saying the administration’s consistent support enabled the board to provide quality accommodation and welfare services for Nasarawa pilgrims in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Executive Secretary also commended the management and staff of the board for their dedication and professionalism during the 2026 Hajj operations, noting that the achievement reflected a collective commitment to service excellence.

He further acknowledged the cooperation and discipline of the state’s pilgrims, describing them as key contributors to the successful Hajj exercise.

According to Almakura, the award will serve as a motivation for the board to sustain high standards of service delivery and further strengthen Hajj operations ahead of the 2027 pilgrimage.

He reaffirmed the board’s commitment to building on the achievement by implementing measures that would enhance pilgrims’ welfare, accommodation and overall experience during future Hajj exercises.

The NAHCON award recognized Nasarawa State for its outstanding performance in pilgrims’ accommodation and welfare services during the 2026 Hajj, with the Commission citing the state’s compliance with its standards on safety, sanitation, proximity to the holy sites and hospitality.

The recognition places Nasarawa among the leading state pilgrims’ welfare boards in Hajj administration and underscores its growing reputation for delivering quality services to pilgrims.
