Ghana Launches First Hajj Flight as Pilgrims Begin Airlift to Saudi Arabia

The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana has successfully conducted the inaugural ceremony for the first Hajj flight departing from Tamale, marking a key operational milestone in the country’s 2026 pilgrimage airlift.
Following the ceremony, pilgrims commenced boarding procedures ahead of their scheduled departure at 11:00 a.m., signaling the formal rollout of this year’s outbound logistics to Saudi Arabia.
The Tamale departure underscores Ghana’s strategic decentralization of Hajj operations, aimed at improving accessibility and streamlining travel for pilgrims from the northern corridor.
In a brief message, the Pilgrims Affairs Office extended prayers for a safe and successful journey, expressing hope that all pilgrims would experience a smooth transit to and from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The airlift forms part of a broader, coordinated effort to ensure efficient movement, safety compliance, and welfare support for Ghanaian pilgrims throughout the Hajj exercise.
