2026 Hajj: NAHCON Commends Lagos Officials, Pilgrims for Exemplary Conduct

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commended officials and pilgrims from Lagos State for their exemplary conduct during the ongoing 2026 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The commendation was given on Thursday by the South-West National Commissioner of NAHCON, Dr. Tajudeen Abefe Oladejo, during an official visit to the Lagos State pilgrims’ tent in Mina.
This was contained in a statement issued by Taofeek Lawal of the Public Affairs Unit, Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Dr. Oladejo, who led the NAHCON delegation, expressed satisfaction with the level of discipline, coordination and peaceful conduct displayed by both the officials and pilgrims from the state. He urged them to sustain the standard throughout the remaining period of the pilgrimage.
He also advised pilgrims to adhere strictly to luggage regulations ahead of their return journey to Nigeria. According to him, each pilgrim is expected to travel with only two 23-kilogram luggage bags and one 8-kilogram hand luggage.
The commissioner further warned against packing prohibited items, including water, juice and other liquid substances, in their luggage.
Responding, the Lagos State Amir-ul-Hajj and Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, appreciated NAHCON for the recognition and support extended to the state delegation during the Hajj operations.
Layode stated that Lagos State would engage with NAHCON after the exercise to discuss areas requiring urgent improvements ahead of the 2027 Hajj operations.
Meanwhile, Lagos pilgrims are expected to depart Mina for Makkah on Friday, where they will remain pending the commencement of their return journey to Nigeria scheduled for June 6, 2026.
