UPDATE: Adamawa Begins Medical Screening for 2026 Hajj Pilgrims

The Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission has commenced a statewide medical screening exercise for intending pilgrims as part of preparations for the 2026 Hajj.
The exercise is in line with a directive from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia requiring all intending pilgrims to undergo comprehensive medical examinations as a prerequisite for Hajj participation.
This was disclosed by the Department of Public Communication and Pilgrims Enlightenment of the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission in Yola.
Acting Chairman of the Commission, Malam Abubakar Salihu, approved the immediate rollout of the screening exercise across the state, stressing strict compliance with the Saudi health requirements.
He also convened a coordination meeting with medical personnel deployed to various Local Government Areas (LGA), where he directed that all approved medical tests be conducted at no cost to the pilgrims.
The screening is currently ongoing at the Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, covering intending pilgrims from Yola South, Yola North and Fufore LGAs, alongside some pilgrims from Madagali and Michika councils.
Schedule Officers from the participating LGAs are on ground to supervise the process and ensure orderly, comprehensive screening of pilgrims under their jurisdiction.
According to the Commission, the medical screening exercise will run for five days and will subsequently be extended to all local government areas across Adamawa State.
Malam Abubakar Salihu has urged all intending pilgrims, including those currently outside the state, to return promptly to Adamawa to participate in the mandatory exercise, noting that medical clearance remains a non-negotiable requirement for final approval to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the Acting Chairman has departed for Saudi Arabia to conclude arrangements for the accommodation of Adamawa State pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj.
