Sokoto Sensitises Pilgrims on Mandatory Nusuk ID, Hajj Guidelines

The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has intensified its sensitisation campaign ahead of the 2026 Hajj
The agency urges intending pilgrims to obtain and safeguard the mandatory Nusuk ID Card required for access to key holy sites in Saudi Arabia.
The advisory was issued during an ongoing enlightenment program held in Tambuwal Local Government Area (LGA), as part of a statewide campaign.
According to a statement issued by Faruku Umar, the agency’s Head of Information and Communications, the campaign in Tambuwal also covers pilgrims Kebbe and Shagari LGAs.
Speaking at the session, Umar stressed that the Nusuk ID Card has become a compulsory requirement for all pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise.
He explained that the identification card is essential for entry into Makkah, the Masjid al-Haram, as well as other designated holy sites.
Umar warned that pilgrims without the card would be denied access to these locations, underscoring the need for strict compliance with the directive as part of efforts to enhance security, coordination, and overall, Hajj management.
He further highlighted the operational framework of Tafweej, a crowd management system that requires pilgrims to move in organised groups of 45.
According to him, the arrangement is designed to ensure orderliness, improve logistics, and facilitate efficient monitoring throughout the pilgrimage.
The sensitisation session also featured contributions from Islamic scholars, who provided detailed guidance on Minasik (Hajj rites) and other critical religious obligations.
The scholars emphasised the importance of proper preparation, adherence to laid-down procedures, and spiritual readiness to ensure a smooth and fulfilling pilgrimage experience.
The Agency reiterated its commitment to continuous engagement with pilgrims across the state, noting that the enlightenment campaign is aimed at equipping them with the necessary knowledge to navigate the complexities of Hajj operations.
It, however, urged all intending pilgrims to strictly adhere to official guidelines and instructions to guarantee a hitch-free and successful 2026 Hajj exercise.
