Sokoto PWA, Hisbah Seal Partnership to Strengthen Pilgrims’ Spiritual Readiness

The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency and the Sokoto State Hisbah Board have agreed to deepen collaboration aimed at improving spiritual orientation for intending pilgrims ahead of the forthcoming Hajj.
The understanding was reached on Monday when the Chairman of the Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, received his counterpart from the Hisbah Board, Dr Ahmad Rufa’i Rungumi, during a courtesy visit in Sokoto.
Mr Musa said both institutions share a common responsibility to uphold Islamic values and guide the faithful, stressing that stronger cooperation would enhance the spiritual preparedness of pilgrims and contribute to a more fulfilling Hajj experience.
“The mandates of both institutions closely align.” By working together, we can better prepare our pilgrims spiritually and ensure they undertake the Hajj with the right mindset and understanding,” he said.
He added that beyond the pilgrimage, the partnership would also promote moral discipline and strengthen public enlightenment across communities.
Mr. Rungumi, in his remarks, thanked the agency for the reception and reaffirmed the Hisbah Board’s commitment to supporting the agency’s programs, particularly in the area of religious guidance and ethical reorientation.
“We are ready to continue working closely with the Pilgrims’ Welfare Agency to ensure that intending pilgrims receive the necessary orientation and guidance before embarking on this sacred journey,” he said.
Both parties agreed to sustain joint efforts in awareness campaigns, spiritual guidance, and enforcement of ethical standards, in line with Islamic teachings, as preparations for the upcoming Hajj season accelerate.
The renewed partnership is expected to play a critical role in ensuring that pilgrims from Sokoto State are not only logistically prepared but also spiritually equipped for the exercise.
