Saudi Launches Hajj Medical Services in Madinah with Over 700 Health Personnel

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have commenced full-scale medical services for the 2026 Hajj exercise in Madinah, deploying over 700 healthcare professionals to cater to the needs of visiting pilgrims.
The initiative, which is now operational, includes the strategic positioning of 90 ambulances across key locations, particularly within and around the Prophet’s Mosque precinct, to ensure rapid emergency response.
Authorities have deployed air ambulances on standby to respond swiftly to critical emergencies, ensuring rapid evacuation and access to advanced medical care for pilgrims in life-threatening conditions. The integration of aerial response units strengthens the overall emergency framework and reduces response time across high-density areas.
Health authorities will run the medical coverage from the beginning of Dhul-Qi’dah through mid-Muharram 1448 AH, strategically aligning operations with the peak window of pilgrim arrivals, stay, and departures in the holy city. This timeline ensures continuous service delivery during the most demanding phases of the pilgrimage cycle.
Officials say the comprehensive healthcare framework delivers uninterrupted medical support to pilgrims throughout their stay in Madinah, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s sustained commitment to protecting the health, safety, and overall well-being of Hajj participants through a robust, multi-layered care system.
