Saudi Hajj Ministry Suspends 3 Umrah Companies Over Accommodation Breach

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has suspended three Umrah service providers after several pilgrims arrived in the Kingdom without confirmed accommodation arrangements, in breach of regulatory requirements.
In a statement, the ministry said the affected companies failed to comply with approved operational protocols mandating that all Umrah pilgrims secure verified housing before departure from their home countries.
The lapse resulted in a number of visitors reaching Saudi Arabia without pre-arranged lodging, prompting immediate regulatory intervention.
The ministry described the incident as a serious violation of service standards and contractual obligations designed to safeguard the welfare and dignity of pilgrims.
It stressed that Umrah operators are legally bound to ensure comprehensive logistical arrangements including accommodation, transportation and ground services prior to pilgrims’ arrival.
As part of corrective measures, the ministry directed that immediate housing be secured for all affected pilgrims at the expense of the suspended companies.
It further initiated administrative procedures against the firms, signaling the possibility of additional penalties under the Kingdom’s Hajj and Umrah service regulations.
Officials reiterated Saudi Arabia’s zero-tolerance stance on service failures that compromise pilgrims’ welfare, underscoring ongoing efforts to enhance oversight, digital monitoring and compliance enforcement across the Umrah ecosystem.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to protecting pilgrims’ rights and ensuring seamless service delivery in line with the Kingdom’s broader objective of improving the overall pilgrimage experience.
It also urged licensed Umrah operators worldwide to strictly adhere to approved guidelines and avoid practices that could expose pilgrims to hardship or regulatory sanctions.
The action reflects heightened scrutiny of service providers as Saudi authorities intensify quality assurance measures across the pilgrimage value chain.
