NAHCON Urges Nigerians to Pay Early for 2027 Hajj

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has urged intending pilgrims to commence payment for the 2027 Hajj early, saying timely financial commitment remains the foundation for a smooth, well-organized and successful pilgrimage.
The commission said early payment has become increasingly important following Saudi Arabia’s adoption of a more structured Hajj calendar, which requires participating countries to conclude key operational arrangements several months before the pilgrimage.
In an article titled; Early Hajj Payment: The Key to a Smooth and Successful Pilgrimage, Shafii Sani Mohammed of NAHCON explained that the Kingdom has already released the implementation timetable for the 1448AH (2027) Hajj, with contracting for accommodation, transportation, catering and other essential services commencing shortly after the conclusion of the previous Hajj season.
He warned that delays in payments could affect the ability of Hajj authorities to secure preferred services and meet Saudi Arabia’s strict deadlines.

According to him, intending pilgrims who pay early have sufficient time to complete passport processing, medical screening, vaccinations and orientation programs, while avoiding the pressure associated with last-minute fundraising.
Mohammed noted that early confirmation of pilgrims also enables NAHCON and State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards, Agencies and Commissions to negotiate better accommodation close to the Holy Mosques, secure quality feeding services, coordinate transportation and finalize flight schedules well ahead of departure.
He added that early financial commitments strengthen Nigeria’s bargaining position with service providers in Saudi Arabia, resulting in improved services and better value for pilgrims.
The commission encouraged prospective pilgrims to make payments through their respective State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards, licensed Private Tour Operators or the NAHCON Hajj Savings Scheme, which allows Muslims to save gradually towards the cost of Hajj through partner non-interest banks.
Mohammed maintained that prompt payment would reduce administrative bottlenecks, minimize the risk of missing Saudi deadlines and contribute to a more organized, comfortable and spiritually rewarding pilgrimage for Nigerian Muslims undertaking the 2027 Hajj.
