NAHCON Commends Edo for Exemplary Hajj Coordination

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commended the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for its outstanding coordination and management of pilgrims during the just-concluded 2026 Hajj exercise.
The commendation came during an inspection visit to the Edo State camp in Mina by a NAHCON team led by the Commissioner in charge of Policy, Personnel Management and Finance, (PPMF), Prince AbdulRazak Aliu.
Speaking during the visit, the inspection team praised Edo State as one of the best-coordinated states in the country throughout the Hajj operations, particularly during the critical stages of the pilgrimage in Arafat and Mina.
The Executive Secretary of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Eranga Abdulkabir Muhammadkabir, disclosed that the NAHCON delegation acknowledged the dedication, orderliness, and effective coordination demonstrated by Edo State officials in serving the pilgrims.
According to him, the visit also provided an opportunity for the board to present some of the challenges and operational lapses experienced by pilgrims and officials during the Hajj exercise.
“We highlighted several issues and areas requiring improvement, which we believe NAHCON should address in future Hajj operations to enhance service delivery and the overall welfare of Nigerian pilgrims,” he said.
Alhaji Eranga noted that the Commissioner representing the South-South and South-East zones equally expressed appreciation to the Edo State contingent for maintaining discipline and ensuring smooth coordination throughout the Arafat and Mina exercises.
He described the recognition by NAHCON as a testament to the commitment and hard work of the state’s Hajj officials, who worked tirelessly to ensure the comfort, safety, and spiritual fulfillment of Edo pilgrims during the pilgrimage.
The 2026 Hajj exercise witnessed the participation of thousands of Nigerian pilgrims, with various state pilgrim boards collaborating closely with NAHCON and Saudi authorities to ensure a successful and hitch-free pilgrimage.
