MAKIA: Kano Pilgrims Board Donates Equipment to Hajj Terminal

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has donated metal chairs and standing fans to the Hajj Terminal at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) as part of its operational readiness strategy for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Director General (DG) of the Board, Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, said the intervention is designed to enhance inter-agency collaboration and improve service delivery for intending pilgrims from the state.
This disclosed in a statement issued by Sulaiman Dederi, Public Relations Officer of the Board.
According to him, the DG emphasized that the Board remains aligned with key stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and execution of Hajj operations.
Matawalle reiterated the Board’s commitment to supporting airport authorities, noting that proactive measures and partnerships are critical to achieving a hitch-free pilgrimage season.
In response, the Regional General Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria at Kano Airport, Musa Okikiri, commended the initiative, describing it as a timely contribution to passenger comfort and operational efficiency.
He disclosed that the donated chairs would be deployed in the Hajj Terminal waiting area to enhance passenger experience ahead of boarding procedures.
Okikiri further assured that improved operational frameworks have been activated, with a target of limiting pilgrims’ processing time at the reception area to under one hour before departure.
The development highlights a broader institutional push to optimize pilgrim welfare, logistics efficiency, and stakeholder synergy ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.
