Lagos Begins 2027 Hajj, Ramadan Umrah Registration, Sets N7m Initial Deposit

The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the sale of application forms for the 2027/1448 A.H. Hajj and Ramadan Umrah exercises, urging intending pilgrims to register early and begin payment of fares in line with the timetable approved by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and Saudi Arabian authorities.
The Board Secretary, AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, announced the commencement in a statement issued on Monday, saying early registration would enable the Board and relevant authorities to complete preparations ahead of the pilgrimage.
According to him, the Hajj application form costs N20,000, while the Ramadan Umrah form is priced at N10,000. Both forms are available through the Board’s Accounts Department.
The Director, Public Affairs of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Taofeek Lawal, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
He explained that Ajomagberin said intending Hajj pilgrims must pay an initial deposit of N7 million through a bank draft drawn in favour of the board, with the payment deadline fixed for September 2026.
He added that NAHCON’s approved 2027 Hajj fare would determine the final amount pilgrims would pay.

He said Ramadan Umrah applicants must make an initial deposit of N5.7 million through a bank draft and urged all intending pilgrims to obtain official receipts for every payment.
The Board Secretary explained that early registration would allow NAHCON to coordinate visa processing, accommodation, airlift operations and other logistics with Saudi authorities, ensuring a seamless pilgrimage for Nigerian pilgrims.
Speaking further, Ajomagberin disclosed that both the Hajj and Ramadan Umrah packages include accommodation within walking distance of the Haram, reliable local transportation, daily breakfast and dinner, medical support, spiritual counselling, and organized Ziyarah visits to historical sites in Makkah and Madinah.
He also announced that enrollment in the Lagos State Health Management Agency’s Ilera Eko Health Insurance Scheme is now compulsory for all intending pilgrims, with registration fees set at N15,000 for individuals and N55,000 for families.
Ajomagberin reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to transparency, accountability and quality service delivery, expressing confidence that the support of the Lagos State Government and NAHCON would ensure a successful 2027 pilgrimage.
