Kebbi Governor Pledges Better Welfare for Pilgrims in Future Hajj Operations

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has pledged to improve the welfare of pilgrims from the state in future Hajj operations, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to supporting Muslim pilgrims and promoting Islam.
The governor made the pledge on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi while receiving the state’s 2026 Hajj pilgrims, who paid him a thank-you visit following their return from Saudi Arabia.
Idris expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a commendable gesture that reflects the importance of recognizing leaders who deliver on their responsibilities.
He also defended his administration’s support for the pilgrims, saying some individuals who previously had the opportunity to provide similar assistance were now criticizing his efforts.
“There are people who had the opportunity to do what we are doing today but failed to do so. Now they are unhappy with our efforts because they misused the opportunities they had,” the governor said.

“If you have misused your opportunity, you should not criticize those who are making effective use of theirs,” he added.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to advancing Islam, assuring the pilgrims that his government would continue to support initiatives that strengthen the faith and improve the welfare of Muslims across the state.
“We shall continue to do everything within our power to promote Islam,” Idris said.
He also disclosed plans to convene another meeting with the pilgrims to discuss additional issues relating to Hajj operations and ways to enhance future exercises.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Faruku Yaro Musa Enabo, said the pilgrims considered it necessary to personally thank the governor for the support he provided throughout the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Enabo said the pilgrims remained consistent in praying for Governor Idris and President Bola Tinubu during their stay in the Holy Land.
He also thanked God for granting all Kebbi State pilgrims a safe return home after the successful completion of the pilgrimage.
