Kano Opens Statewide Hajj Induction for Intending Pilgrims

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced its daily Hajj Induction Course, popularly known as *Bita*, as part of preparations for the 2026 pilgrimage, with officials urging intending pilgrims to take the exercise seriously.
The programme, which has now begun across the state, is designed to equip registered pilgrims with the knowledge, orientation and practical guidance needed for a smooth and spiritually fulfilling Hajj. The development was disclosed in a press statement signed by **Sulaiman A. Dederi**, Public Relations Officer of the Board.
Declaring the exercise open, the Director General of the Board, Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, said the induction would run for about five weeks and serve as a critical stage in preparing pilgrims for the sacred journey to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He said the training is intended to deepen pilgrims’ understanding of Hajj rites and procedures while also preparing them for the physical, mental and spiritual demands of the pilgrimage.
> “This induction course is a vital aspect of Hajj preparation and all intending pilgrims must participate actively to gain the necessary knowledge and guidance for a successful Hajj,” Matawalle said.
According to him, the Board has established 20 centres across various parts of the state to make the programme easily accessible to pilgrims. The centres are spread across several local government areas, including Dala, Kumbotso, Ungogo, Bichi, Gwarzo, Wudil, Gezawa, Kura and Rano.
Other centres, he added, are located in Tudun Wada, Doguwa, Takai, Rogo, Rimin Gado, Karaye, Bebeji and Gaya, while special sessions will also hold at the School for Arabic Studies and the College for Qur’anic Studies.
Matawalle reaffirmed the Board’s resolve to ensure that all intending pilgrims from Kano are adequately prepared before departure, noting that proper orientation remains key to reducing avoidable challenges during Hajj operations.
The Board therefore called on all registered pilgrims to attend the sessions consistently and make full use of the opportunity as preparations for the 2026 Hajj gather momentum.
