Jigawa Gov’t Breaks Down N2.6bn Approval for 2026 Hajj Operations

The Jigawa State Government has provided a detailed justification for its approval of N2.6 billion for the conduct of the 2026 Hajj operations.
The government position the expenditure as a proactive measure to guarantee efficiency, compliance, and pilgrim welfare.
The explanation was given by the Commissioner of Information, Mr. Sagir Musa, while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held on Wednesday in Dutse.
According to Musa, the approved funds are designed to support the smooth transportation and overall welfare of intending pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia, in line with international operational standards and Saudi Hajj regulations.
He stated that the allocation will cover critical components of the Hajj exercise, including air transportation, accommodation, feeding, medical services, orientation programmes, and other essential logistical requirements.
He said, “This is to ensure a hitch-free pilgrimage for all pilgrims from the state as they embark on the holy journey”.
The commissioner reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to conducting a well-coordinated and orderly Hajj exercise, stressing that the entire process would adhere strictly to guidelines issued by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Saudi authorities.
He further disclosed that relevant ministries, departments, and agencies have been directed to work in close coordination to ensure transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency, enabling pilgrims from the state to perform their religious obligations without undue hardship.
