India Sets Advance Hajj Payment at ₹152,300 as 2027 Fare Awaits Final Approval

The Haj Committee of India (HCoI) has directed intending pilgrims to pay an advance of ₹152,300 for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage while indicating that the final cost will be announced after service contracts and airfare arrangements are concluded.
The payment structure, contained in the newly released Hajj 2027 guidelines, offers an early indication of the financial commitments facing Indian pilgrims as preparations for next year’s pilgrimage gather pace.
According to the guidelines, the advance payment comprises ₹150,000 as the initial Hajj fare, ₹2,000 in miscellaneous charges and a non-refundable processing fee of ₹300. Only provisionally selected pilgrims will be required to make the payment to confirm their seats.
The committee said pilgrims would subsequently pay the balance of the Hajj fare in two instalments.
The first instalment of ₹125,000 will become due after the release of the first waiting list, while the remaining balance is expected to be paid by 31 December 2026.

However, the HCoI stressed that the final Hajj fare has not yet been fixed, explaining that the total cost will depend on several variables, including airfare, accommodation contracts in Makkah and Madinah, transportation, visa charges, insurance, Qurbani (Adahi), airport taxes and the prevailing exchange rate between the Indian Rupee and the Saudi Riyal.
The committee noted that any increase in the cost of services or fluctuations in the exchange rate before the pilgrimage would be passed on to pilgrims.
For context, the total Hajj cost for Indian pilgrims in 2026 ranged from about ₹343,200 to ₹419,000, depending on the chosen embarkation point and airfare.
The announcement comes as several countries, including Nigeria, have begun early preparations for Hajj 2027 following Saudi Arabia’s release of a new operational framework for the pilgrimage.
Like India, Nigerian Hajj authorities are expected to determine the 2027 fare after concluding negotiations on air transportation, accommodation, feeding and other services in Saudi Arabia.
The final cost for Nigerian pilgrims is also likely to depend on foreign exchange rates and contracts with service providers.
