Hajj 2026: Authorities Ban Trolley Bags, Extra Luggage for Mina Movement

Pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj have been directed to travel with only one bag during the movement to Mina, following a new directive issued by the Hajj Mission in Makkah.
Under the directive contained in a circular dated May 6, trolley bags, hand-carry bags, and all forms of additional luggage have been prohibited for the Mina phase of the pilgrimage.
The mission stated that each pilgrim would be allowed to carry only one bag, stressing that the restriction would be enforced without exception.
According to the circular, the measure was introduced to ease congestion and improve coordination at Mina camps, where millions of pilgrims are accommodated within a limited space during the peak Hajj period.
Officials warned that excess luggage could obstruct movement within the camps and create operational challenges during one of the most crowded stages of the pilgrimage.
Field officials and coordinators were consequently directed to immediately sensitise pilgrims on the new policy and ensure strict compliance throughout the movement exercise.
Authorities also advised pilgrims to travel light and carry only essential personal belongings required for their stay in Mina.
