Governor Idris Approves 2026 Hajj Committee, Names Jega as Amirul Hajj

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the constitution of a state delegation to oversee the 2026 Hajj exercise, appointing Alhaji Ahmad Jafar Jega as Chairman and Amirul Hajj.
The Office of the Secretary to the State Government conveyed the approval in a letter dated April 9, 2026, confirming the composition of the committee coordinating the state’s Hajj operations.
The delegation comprises senior government officials, traditional title holders and other key stakeholders drawn from across the state.
Members include Hussaini Sulaiman Kangiwa, Sen. Bala Ibn Na-Allah, the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Umar Muhammad Hadejia, Abubakar Muhammad Kana, Babale Umar Yauri, Garba Muhammad Bena, Sulaiman Fana.
Other members are; Aliyu Bello Muhammad (Magajin Rafin Gwandu), Dr. Haliru Bala Jikan-Daudu, Zayyanu Bello Haruna Rasheed, Halima Muhammad Bande, Halima Hassan Kamba, Mustapha Usman Ka’oje.
As well as Muhammad Arzika Bawa (Sarkin Kabin Jega), Umar Ahmed Saraki, Kadi Sadiq Usman Mukhtar, Justice Nuraddeen Muhammad, and Sahabi Boyi Gemu, who will serve as Secretary.
The committee will coordinate all Hajj-related activities, liaise with relevant agencies, and ensure the welfare of Kebbi pilgrims throughout the exercise.
Its terms of reference include ensuring compliance with agreements between the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and airline operators, as well as supervising the overall conduct of the pilgrimage and advising the government on future improvements.
Meanwhile, Jega has commenced preliminary oversight activities with an inspection visit to the Hajj Camp in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
During the visit, the Executive Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Faruku Musa Yaro, received him.
Speaking after the tour, Jega expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness at the facility, commending the agency’s leadership for its commitment to delivering a seamless Hajj operation.
“The arrangements on ground reflect strong readiness for a successful exercise,” he said.
He also thanked Governor Idris for the confidence reposed in him and members of the delegation, assuring that the committee would work diligently to ensure a smooth and successful 2026 Hajj for pilgrims from the state.
