Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the reappointment of Alhaji Mai Aliyu Usman as the Acting Executive Chairman of the Yobe State Pilgrims Commission.

The reappointment takes effect from October 7, 2026, subject to confirmation by the Yobe State House of Assembly.

The approval was conveyed in a letter dated September 28, 2026, signed by the Secretary to the Yobe State Government, Dr Mohammed Goje, and addressed to Usman.

The letter said the reappointment reflected the confidence the state government had placed in Usman’s “competence, professionalism and commitment.”

It also charged him to discharge the responsibilities of the office with diligence, integrity and dedication.

The reappointment extends Usman’s leadership of the state pilgrims’ affairs as Yobe prepares for another cycle of Hajj administration and related pilgrimage activities.

However, his continuation in the role remains subject to legislative confirmation, according to the official communication.

The state government congratulated Usman on the reappointment and wished him success in the discharge of his responsibilities.

The development comes as state pilgrims’ commissions and boards across the country begin positioning their administrative structures for preparations ahead of the 2027 Hajj.
