Gombe Pilgrims Begin Luggage Screening Ahead of Return Airlift

The Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced preparations for its return journey to Nigeria with the start of a luggage screening exercise for pilgrims who participated in the 2026 Hajj.
The screening exercise, scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. Saudi time, targets the first batch of pilgrims and forms part of arrangements for the return airlift of the state’s 964 pilgrims.
The state’s Hajj contingent, led by the Emir of Dukku, Alhaji Haruna Abdulkadir Rasheed, alongside the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan, announced the exercise on Tuesday.
According to the officials, the screening is designed to ensure compliance with airline baggage regulations and Hajj operational guidelines, while facilitating a smooth and orderly return of pilgrims after the successful completion of the 2026 Hajj.
The board urged all affected pilgrims to present their luggage for screening at the designated time and venue and to strictly follow instructions issued by Hajj officials.
The officials also commended the pilgrims for their cooperation, discipline and commitment throughout the pilgrimage and prayed for their safe and successful return to Nigeria.
