Breaking: Saudi Cuts Umrah Visa to 30 Days Ahead of Hajj

Saudi Arabia has reduced the entry validity period for Umrah visas to one month, tightening travel timelines for intending pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj season.
The development was uncovered in a new Umrah visa processed and printed on Sunday, March 1. It reflected the revised 30-day entry window.
The adjustment marks a shift from the previous three-month entry validity period traditionally granted to Umrah visa holders.
Under the new arrangement, pilgrims must enter the Kingdom within 30 days from the date of visa issuance or risk automatic cancellation. However, the permitted duration of stay after arrival remains unchanged.
The policy is understood to be part of broader administrative measures by Saudi authorities to enhance crowd management and regulate the flow of pilgrims as preparations intensify for Hajj.
Officials said it is also aimed at curbing overstays by Umrah pilgrims, ensuring they complete Umrah in a timely manner and do not remain in the Kingdom illegally to perform Hajj.
The decision is expected to significantly impact travel operators and intending pilgrims, who will now be required to synchronise visa issuance with confirmed flight and accommodation bookings within a narrower timeframe.
Saudi Arabia, through the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, has continued to refine pilgrimage logistics in recent years, deploying digital systems and tighter visa controls to streamline pilgrim movements into the Kingdom.
Industry stakeholders are advising prospective pilgrims to finalise travel arrangements promptly to avoid lapses under the new one-month entry validity rule.
