Breaking Down Saudi Arabia’s 2027 Hajj Preparation Timeline

Saudi Arabia has introduced one of the most ambitious overhauls of Hajj planning in recent years, rolling out an accelerated preparation timeline and stricter regulatory framework for the 2027 Hajj (1448 AH).
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah introduced the reforms to eliminate last-minute arrangements, improve operational efficiency and ensure all participating countries complete their preparations well ahead of the pilgrimage.
The Kingdom officially launched preparations on May 29, 2026, immediately after the conclusion of the 2026 Hajj season, signaling a shift toward year-round planning.
Unlike previous years, Saudi authorities have ruled out deadline extensions and warned that countries failing to comply with the new schedule could lose part or all of their allocated pilgrim quotas.
A major highlight is the September 26, 2026 deadline for final pilgrim registration, nearly eight months before Hajj.
This gives national Hajj missions a significantly shorter period to complete registrations and finalize travel arrangements.
Breaking Down Saudi Arabia’s 2027 Hajj Preparation Timeline
Saudi authorities have also advanced accommodation planning. Between June 30 and August 13, 2026, countries and licensed operators must secure hotels and pilgrim housing in Makkah and Madinah through the Masar Nusuk platform, requiring financial commitments almost a year before the pilgrimage.
Saudi Arabia has also introduced compulsory training for Hajj affairs personnel, making successful completion a prerequisite for obtaining operational visas and permits.
In addition, the Kingdom has streamlined its service model by discontinuing Package D and requiring each participating country to appoint a single provider to manage accommodation, transportation and catering.
Saudi authorities have also made health compliance a key requirement, mandating one doctor for every 1,000 pilgrims before approving operators’ contracts.
The remaining timeline includes the signing of bilateral Hajj agreements on November 8, 2026, Hajj visa issuance from January 28, 2027, international flight operations beginning April 8, 2027, and the expected Day of Arafah on May 15, 2027, subject to the official moon sighting.
