Bauchi Pilgrims Board Confirms One Death During 2026 Hajj

The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has confirmed the death of one pilgrim during the 2026 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia, while reporting a generally successful pilgrimage marked by improved healthcare services and fewer medical challenges.
Executive Secretary of the Board, Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris, disclosed this during an interview in which he reviewed the state’s participation in the annual pilgrimage.
According to him, all pilgrims from the state returned safely except for one individual who died while performing the Hajj rites.
“We were successful with all the pilgrims we traveled with and brought them back safely, except for one pilgrim who passed away over there,” Idris said.
Despite the fatality, the Executive Secretary described the 2026 Hajj operation as one of the most successful undertaken by the state in recent years, noting that health-related challenges among pilgrims remained minimal throughout the exercise.
He attributed the positive outcome to extensive medical preparations put in place by the board before departure.
The arrangements included deploying dedicated medical personnel, procuring medications for pilgrims and operating a fully equipped ambulance to provide emergency healthcare services.
Idris explained that the board stationed its doctors within pilgrims’ accommodations rather than at the national medical facility, allowing them to respond quickly to health concerns whenever they arose.
He said the state recorded only a few minor health cases during the pilgrimage, with two female pilgrims requiring additional medical attention.
The Executive Secretary noted that medical teams effectively managed healthcare needs both in Makkah and during the pilgrims’ stay in Mina, ensuring prompt treatment and continuous monitoring of pilgrims’ wellbeing.
He also commended members of the advance team for facilitating smooth accommodation arrangements in Madinah and Makkah, describing the facilities secured for Bauchi pilgrims as significantly better than those used in previous years.
Idris expressed gratitude to Allah for what he described as a successful Hajj operation and praised all officials who contributed to the welfare and safety of the pilgrims throughout the exercise.
