Arafat Day: NAHCON Chairman Reassures Nigerian Pilgrims of Improved Hajj Services, Smooth Return Journey

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Amb. Yusuf Abba, has extended warm greetings and prayers to Nigerian pilgrims observing the sacred Day of Arafat in Saudi Arabia, describing the occasion as the spiritual climax of the Hajj pilgrimage.
In his Arafat Day message, the NAHCON chairman said the day represents a period of mercy, forgiveness, supplication, and complete submission to Almighty Allah. He urged pilgrims to use the opportunity for deep reflection, sincere repentance, and renewed dedication to righteous living.
Amb. Abba noted that the Day of Arafat continues to remind Muslims of the virtues of humility, sacrifice, patience, and steadfast faith, adding that lessons learned from previous Hajj operations have helped shape ongoing efforts to improve services for Nigerian pilgrims.
According to him, the commission has remained committed to reviewing both past and current Hajj experiences to improve the welfare, comfort, and overall spiritual experience of pilgrims during the annual exercise.
He explained that Hajj administration in Nigeria has significantly improved over the years, especially when compared to earlier times when intending pilgrims spent several days in transit camps awaiting transportation to Saudi Arabia.
While acknowledging the progress recorded, the chairman admitted that some operational challenges still exist and assured pilgrims that the commission would continue to address identified shortcomings to ensure better service delivery.
“Following the spiritually significant gathering at Arafat, where all mankind stands equal before the Creator, we remain committed to correcting identified challenges and strengthening supervision to better protect the interests of Nigerian pilgrims,” he said.
The NAHCON boss further stated that the commission was created to address the numerous challenges that once affected the Hajj administration in Nigeria, stressing that the organisation remains dedicated to upholding the vision of its founding fathers through discipline, commitment, and sincerity of purpose.
He also revealed that NAHCON successfully renegotiated the feeding costs for pilgrims in Madinah, noting that the savings generated from the agreement would be refunded directly to the pilgrims.
Amb. Abba appreciated stakeholders, partners, and pilgrims for their patience, cooperation, and support throughout the exercise, assuring them that the commission would continue striving to justify the trust placed in it.
The chairman also commended the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the 2026 Hajj operations, saying the administration’s backing contributed to the successes recorded in the airlift and coordination of pilgrims.
He equally praised Kashim Shettima for providing guidance and ensuring the implementation of policies that supported the smooth conduct of the Hajj exercise.
The message also acknowledged the dedication and sacrifices of NAHCON staff and management, whom he credited for working tirelessly throughout the operation.
Reassuring pilgrims about their return trip, the chairman said adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure a safe, smooth, and seamless journey back to Nigeria after the completion of the Hajj rites.
He concluded by praying for Allah’s forgiveness, guidance, and acceptance of the worship of all pilgrims while calling on Muslims to embrace unity, sacrifice, and wisdom.
“May Allah grant all pilgrims a rewarding Hajj and safe return to their families and communities,” he prayed.
