NAHCON Chairman Describes Nigeria’s First Hajj, Umrah Expo as Landmark Achievement

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has described the hosting of Nigeria’s first-ever Hajj and Umrah Expo as a landmark achievement, commending its convener, Dr. Haisha Hamet.
The NAHCON Chairman, who was represented by the Director, Administration and Human Resources, Alhaji Alidu Shutti at the event, said the introduction of the Expo marked a significant development in the history of Hajj management in Nigeria.
He noted that such a platform had never before been organised within the country’s pilgrimage administration framework.
According to him, the initiative reflects a growing commitment to innovation, stakeholder engagement, and structured collaboration aimed at strengthening the management of Hajj and Umrah operations.
He explained that his absence from the program was due to other critical commitments connected to preparations for the 2026 Hajj operation, adding that the Commission remains fully supportive of initiatives that promote efficiency and professionalism in the sector.
The NAHCON Chairman further praised Dr. Haisha Hamet for her vision and leadership in conceptualising and delivering the Expo, describing the effort as thoughtful, timely, and impactful.
He also noted that relevant institutions were fully involved in the process, underscoring the importance of institutional alignment and cooperation in achieving sustainable improvements in pilgrimage administration.
The Chairman formally welcomed participants to the Expo and urged stakeholders to maximise the platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and the exchange of ideas capable of improving service delivery to Nigerian pilgrims.
Observers say the successful hosting of the Expo could set a new benchmark for stakeholder engagement in Nigeria’s Hajj sector and contribute to more coordinated and effective pilgrimage operations in the years ahead.
