The Taraba State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has approved a minor leadership reshuffle, appointing new heads of its Welfare and Enlightenment and Ulama departments ahead of preparations for the forthcoming Hajj.

The changes were announced by the Acting Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Tanko, following a management meeting held at the Board’s headquarters in Jalingo on Monday.

Tanko said the reorganisation followed the statutory retirement of the former Director of Welfare and Enlightenment, Malam Adamu Umar, necessitating adjustments to ensure continuity in the Board’s operations.

Under the new arrangement, Malam Umar Aliyu Baraya has been appointed Acting Director of Welfare and Enlightenment, with Hamza Baba Muri serving as his deputy.

Similarly, Malam Imrana Yahaya has been appointed Head of Ulama, while Malam Husseini Umar will serve as his deputy.

The Acting Executive Secretary said the appointments were intended to strengthen efficiency, continuity and effective service delivery as the Board intensifies preparations for upcoming Hajj activities.

He expressed confidence in the ability of the new appointees to deploy their experience and expertise in advancing the Board’s mandate and improving services to intending pilgrims.

Members of the management, in their separate remarks, congratulated the appointees and urged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their responsibilities.

They also tasked Muri, in his new capacity as Deputy Director, Welfare and Enlightenment, with mentoring the Board’s Public Relations staff to enhance communication and service delivery.

The management meeting concluded with special prayers for the success of the new appointees and the continued progress of the Taraba State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

The reshuffle comes as pilgrims’ welfare agencies across the country begin strengthening their administrative structures and operational readiness for the 2027 Hajj exercise.
