Staff of the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission have celebrated the appointment of their Acting Executive Chairman, Malam Abubakar Salihu, as the new District Head and Wakili Gurin.
The celebration followed the formal presentation of Salihu’s appointment letter at the Emir’s Palace in Fufore on Friday.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri appointed Salihu to the traditional position in recognition of his new role within the traditional institution of Gurin.
Members of the Commission turned out in large numbers at the palace to witness the occasion and demonstrate their support for their chairman.
Following the ceremony, the staff formed a motorcade and accompanied Salihu from the palace to his residence in Gurin.
The procession through the community was marked by cheers, songs and prayers as colleagues and associates celebrated what they described as a significant milestone in Salihu’s career.

He said the presence of his colleagues at the palace and their decision to accompany him to Gurin had given him additional strength as he assumed his new traditional responsibilities.
