Independent Hajj Reporters Honours Jigawa Governor Namadi as Patron

The Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR), in collaboration with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), has honoured the Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, by appointing him as its Patron in recognition of his contributions to the welfare of Muslim pilgrims.
The recognition was disclosed in a statement signed by Habibu Yusuf Babura, Public Relations Officer of the organisation.
According to the statement, the honour was informed by the reforms and pilgrim-centred initiatives introduced under Namadi’s administration through the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The organisation said the governor’s administration had continued to prioritise the welfare of pilgrims by providing strategic accommodation, daily meals and improved logistics for both Hajj and Umrah operations.
Representing the governor at the event, the Director-General of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Umar Ahmed Labbo, FCFA, expressed appreciation to the Independent Hajj Reporters for the recognition.
Labbo said the honour reflected the impact of the governor’s commitment to improving the pilgrimage experience for people from the state.
He said the administration’s interventions had helped transform Jigawa’s Hajj operations through increased funding, better planning and stronger administrative coordination.
According to him, the board has improved pre-departure screening for intending pilgrims, secured accommodation closer to major holy sites in Saudi Arabia and strengthened medical services dedicated to Jigawa pilgrims.
Labbo also highlighted the governor’s support for continuous orientation programmes designed to prepare intending pilgrims for the spiritual, administrative and logistical demands of the pilgrimage.
He said financial support mechanisms introduced by the administration had also helped reduce some of the burdens faced by intending pilgrims during the Hajj process.
The Director-General said the board would continue to build on the reforms and maintain the standards established under the Namadi administration.
He added that the governor’s appointment as Patron of the Independent Hajj Reporters would further encourage the state to pursue innovative approaches to pilgrimage management and improve services available to its pilgrims.
The development places Jigawa among states seeking to strengthen the institutional management of Hajj and prioritise the welfare of pilgrims before, during and after the annual pilgrimage.
