The Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, announcing an initial deposit of N7 million for all intending pilgrims as preparations for the pilgrimage gather momentum.

Executive Secretary of the Board, Eranga Abdulkabir Muhammadkabir, announced the commencement of the registration in a statement, clarifying that the N7 million is only an initial deposit and does not represent the final Hajj fare.

He explained that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria will determine and officially announce the final cost of the 2027 Hajj after completing its fare assessment and approval process.

“The initial deposit for the 2027 Hajj has been fixed at N7,000,000. Please note that this is only the initial deposit. NAHCON will determine and officially announce the final Hajj fare,” the Executive Secretary said.

The Board urged all intending pilgrims to make the initial payment as early as possible to secure their participation in the 2027 Hajj exercise while awaiting NAHCON’s official declaration of the final fare.

It further reiterated that the registration and payment deadline remains September 26, 2026, as previously announced, stressing that prospective pilgrims must complete all registration formalities before the closing date to avoid missing the opportunity to participate in the pilgrimage.

The statement encouraged interested applicants to visit the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for further enquiries or obtain additional information through the office of the Executive Secretary.

Reaffirming its commitment to a transparent and efficient registration process, the Board said it has put the necessary arrangements in place to ensure seamless coordination throughout the registration period.

It also advised prospective pilgrims to begin their preparations early by completing the registration process within the stipulated timeline.
