The first batch of pilgrims from Lagos State participating in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage have proceeded to the holy city of Makkah after completing their stay in Madinah.

The Director Public Affairs, Taofeek Lawal disclosed this in official update. According to him, the 343 pilgrims departed Madinah in high spirits following four days of intense spiritual activities, prayers, and supplications at the Prophet’s Mosque.

Meanwhile, the second and third batches of Lagos pilgrims who arrived Madinah on Sunday have commenced Ziyyarah visits to notable historical and religious sites within the city as part of their spiritual preparation ahead of the major Hajj rites in Makkah.

The exercise offered the pilgrims the opportunity to reflect on Islamic history, the sacrifices of early Muslims, and deepen their understanding of significant events in Islam.

Lawal further stated that among the sites visited were Masjid Quba, regarded as the first mosque built in Islam; Mount Uhud, site of the historic Battle of Uhud.

Other sites include Masjid Qiblatain, where Allah revealed the directive to change the Qiblah from Jerusalem to Makkah; Jannatul Baqi, the resting place of many companions of Prophet Muhammad (SAW); and Sab’ah Masajid, which is associated with the Battle of the Trench.

Pilgrims will continue their spiritual activities in Makkah ahead of the commencement of the core Hajj rites.
