2027 Hajj: Sokoto Orders Prompt Remittance of Pilgrims’ Fares

The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has directed Hajj Registration Officers across the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) to promptly remit fares collected from intending pilgrims to the Agency ahead of the 2027 Hajj.
The Agency’s Chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, issued the directive alongside its Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar, during a meeting with Secretaries of the 23 LGAs in the state.
Musa said the directive became necessary because of the limited time available to complete the 2027 Hajj registration process, which closes on September 26, 2026.
He urged registration officers to remain proactive, diligent and committed to ensuring that all payments collected from intending pilgrims reach the Agency without delay.
According to him, timely remittance will enable the Agency to meet its financial obligations to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and other Hajj service providers within stipulated deadlines.
The chairman also tasked Local Government Secretaries with supporting assistant Hajj Registration Officers to strengthen coordination, documentation and timely submission of Hajj-related information.

In his remarks, Permanent Secretary Ibrahim Umar JJ urged all stakeholders to intensify mobilisation efforts and provide intending pilgrims with accurate information on registration requirements and deadlines.
He said the successful conduct of the 2027 Hajj would require coordinated efforts by the Agency, Local Government authorities, registration officers and intending pilgrims.
Umar called on stakeholders to work closely with the Agency and strictly comply with guidelines issued for the registration exercise.
The meeting also reviewed progress recorded in the 2027 Hajj registration exercise and considered measures to improve coordination and ensure a smooth and efficient pilgrimage operation.
The Agency urged all registration officers to treat the remittance directive as a priority as the September 26 deadline approaches.
