2027 Hajj: Kano Pilgrims Race to Beat August 31 Passport Deadline

Intending pilgrims in Kano State are racing against time to complete their passport documentation as the August 31, 2026 deadline for passport uploading ahead of the 2027 Hajj draws closer.
The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has urged intending pilgrims who recently completed their passport capture to immediately collect their documents from the Immigration Office and submit them to the Board for further processing.
The Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, made the call during a press briefing at the Board’s Conference Hall in Kano.
Matawalle disclosed that more than 700 passports belonging to intending pilgrims captured within the last 10 days up to last Friday are now ready for collection.
He warned that delays in collecting and submitting the passports could slow down the electronic registration process, stressing that the Board could only upload pilgrims onto its server and commence necessary Hajj processing after receiving their passports.
“The deadline for passport uploading remains August 31, 2026,” Matawalle reiterated, urging affected pilgrims to proceed to the Immigration Office without delay.

The development places renewed focus on the need for intending pilgrims to complete their documentation ahead of the deadline, particularly as preparations for the 2027 Hajj continue across states.
The Board is expected to rely on timely submission of the passports to complete the required electronic data processing for Kano pilgrims and advance other stages of the Hajj preparation.
Matawalle also appealed to intending pilgrims to comply with all documentation requirements and avoid waiting until the final days before submitting their passports.
He expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Immigration Service for its cooperation and support in facilitating the passport capture and collection process.
The Board’s warning underscores the growing importance of early documentation in the 2027 Hajj operation, with pilgrims required to complete key registration processes within stipulated timelines to avoid administrative delays.
