2027 Hajj: Jigawa Seeks More Seats as NAHCON Inspects Readiness

Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has exhausted its allocated seats for the 2027 Hajj and formally requested additional slots from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) as demand from intending pilgrims continues to rise.
The development emerged when a NAHCON delegation, led by the Commission’s Northwest Zone Commissioner, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Uthman, visited the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board to assess the state’s preparedness for the 2027 pilgrimage.
The delegation was received by the Board’s Director-General, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, who conducted the officials round the board’s facilities as part of the readiness assessment.
Labbo told the delegation that Jigawa had completed the sale of its allocated Hajj seats, prompting the state to formally seek additional quota to accommodate more intending pilgrims.
The inspection also provided an opportunity for NAHCON to communicate some of its key operational requirements ahead of the pilgrimage.

During a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Engineer Aminu Usman Gumel, Bin Uthman highlighted mandatory medical fitness evaluations for prospective pilgrims and stressed the importance of close coordination between state pilgrims’ welfare agencies and the national commission.
The commissioner said sustained collaboration would remain critical to ensuring effective implementation of Hajj policies and smooth operations.
Responding, Gumel commended the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board for its performance in Hajj administration and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to pilgrims’ welfare.
He said the government would continue to provide the necessary support to sustain Jigawa’s position among the leading states in Hajj operations.
Gumel also assured the NAHCON delegation of the state’s readiness to maintain close cooperation with the Commission to deliver efficient services to pilgrims.
The latest development places Jigawa among states confronting strong demand for 2027 Hajj seats, even as preparations increasingly focus on compliance with medical, administrative and operational requirements ahead of the pilgrimage.
