The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has exhausted its allocated seats for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage and formally requested additional slots from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to meet rising demand from intending pilgrims.

The Director-General of the board, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, disclosed this while speaking in his office, saying the state had recorded overwhelming interest in the 2027 pilgrimage.

Labbo said the board had already submitted a request to NAHCON for additional allocation, stressing that the move became necessary after the state exhausted its existing quota.

He also disclosed that the portal for passport data capture had closed, creating an additional challenge for intending pilgrims seeking to complete their documentation.

According to him, the Forum of State Hajj Chairmen has appealed to NAHCON to reopen the portal to enable more intending pilgrims to submit their passport details and complete the necessary documentation.

The Jigawa Hajj chief expressed optimism that NAHCON would consider the requests and approve additional seats, as well as facilitate the reopening of the passport data-capture portal.

The development highlights the strong demand for participation in the 2027 Hajj as states race to meet registration, payment and documentation requirements ahead of deadlines set for the pilgrimage.

Labbo commended staff of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board for their dedication and commitment, saying their efforts had contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the state’s preparations for the 2027 Hajj.

The board’s request now awaits consideration by NAHCON, which will determine whether additional seats can be made available to Jigawa State.
